Newsworthiness? News values? Bias?

What is newsworthiness? News values? Bias?
Newsworthiness is how interesting a story is in the newspaper. For example, if a story was of no interest to any of the target audience then the newspaper is less than likely to cast the story in their paper, as it wont increase the sale of their newspaper.

News values are factors that determine where a story is placed in the newspaper. If there were a story on an incident that affected the majority of people in the neighbor hood then this would be of interest to these people, therefore it would be placed on the front page of the newspaper to draw the reader’s attention. Heres an example of a story that would not necesarrily be on the front page as only a hand full of people would be interested.

Bias is when the writer of a story in the newspaper has taken a particular view on the subject, either for or against. This then pushes the readers to take the perspective of the writer, instead of being fair about the subject and allowing the reader to come up with their own idea on the subject.
