My newspaper Poster

Here is my newspaper poster I am really happy with the way that it has turned out. I feel that this us a really strong photograph as it show the singer being happy which is the way I want to portray my newspaper. I admire the way that 'THE DAILY WAVE' sits at the bottom of the poster with the web adress beneath it. I feel that this look great and gives the poster a proffesional feel.

Finished second Page of my website.

I feel that my second page has been successful, this is because I have used the same layout and colour scheme as I have on my first website page. I have used one of the stories from the inside page of my newspaper and I have also created a new one using a picture that i took using my Iphone. Another picture that I took on my Iphone I used in an advertisement at the bottom of the page. I cropped the image of a pet shop that I took and cropped the sign to make the title of the advert 'PamPurredPets'.

Finished first page of website

My final inside page.

I am extremely happy with how my inside page has turned out. I feel that the way in which I toned down the colour when making my inside page is very effective. This make it easier to read as it is less bold and the page doesn't look so crowded. This page is more about the writing than the images, unlike my front cover that was mostly about the images as it is supposed to draw people to the newspaper. I have included three stories on the inside page, two of which have images. I think that the bar at the top of the page that shows whats inside the newspaper is effective as the images on the bar show some of the stories that will be in the paper. I feel the images of the lottery winners is especially effective as it is inviting. I am very pleased with the finished piece.

The 1st website page.

I have began to construct my first website page. I am very happy with the result so far as I have made it look similar to my front page. I have kept the colours constant between to two pages and I have have used the same fonts that I had on my front cover and converted it onto my website page. I have used stories from my front and inside page and I have created ones for the purpose of the website page. I still have more to do but i am confident that the page will look effective.
I had to capture the screen in two parts, this is the reason that the bottom part doesn't match up to the top, however it does on iWeb.

My final front cover.

I am so happy with this cover page. I feel that my stories are newsworthy and people would want to read into the stories. I am extremely pleased with how the main image looks as I had to play around with it slightly and i was worried that it wouldn't work on the page, however I think it looks affective and due to the fact that he is smiling it promotes the story as it makes it look light hearted therefore people will want to read it.

Nearly finished

All I need to do now to make sure that my front page is entirely finished is to add a website address at the top of the page, add a website name to the advertisement at the bottom of the page and finish the experience days advertisement to the right of the page.

UPDATED: Newspaper with second advertisement to the right.

I took and image using a borrowed professional camera of origami birds hanging on a relatives ceiling. I thought that they looked really artistic so i thought that they would look great in a photography shot. I am happy with the look of it.

UPDATED: newspaper with new advertisement to the right.

I am really happy about how my front cover is turning out I am excited to finish the page as i then want to get feedback from people to see what their opinions of the newspaper cover are.

I took a picture of a student that was walking around the college in a previous project and I thought that it would work well on my newspaper as I would be able to cut him out relatively easy and pose him on top of a plain coloured background. Here he is cut out and I will now put him on a light blue rectangle on the right hand side of the front page and I will use it to advertise a South Downs college open day.

More editing.

I have continued on from lastly putting a headline on to my newspaper cover and I have now played around with the size of the headline further and I feel happy with how it looks now. I have added a subheading to the story to add a little more information to the headline, with out giving too much away.

Adding another story to my cover.

I have studied other news paper and realized that the font is very bold and large. I started out with the headline, Girl in wheelchair after brutal dog attack. I really liked this idea as it seamed a good enough headline, also it would be an interesting story. So I had to play around with the fonts to make sure that the headline would fit into the area that I had set out for it. After much trouble I decided that I needed to shorten the headline. So I ended up rearranging the words to Wheelchair for girl after dog attack which i feel is much more effective so in the end it was the right thing to do. The shorter the better in this case.
Here is my newspaper cover with the new headline.

Starting my inside page.

Here is my inside page. I already had an image that I had taken and a story that I had written earlier on in the project. So I just included these into the layout of my inside page that I modeled on an inside page from the news.

The front page so far.

Over the holidays I attended a small gig at The Cellars, and watched a Rockabilly band called The Marvels. I took the opportunity to take some shots of them whilst they where performing and I have chosen one main image that i really like! I like the way in which the performers black shirt blends in to the back ground. It looks effective. I have removed the second performer from the background and replaced it with black so that I can place text over the top.
Here it is so far.
